إِن تَسۡتَفۡتِحُواْ فَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلۡفَتۡحُۖ وَإِن تَنتَهُواْ فَهُوَ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡۖ وَإِن تَعُودُواْ نَعُدۡ وَلَن تُغۡنِيَ عَنكُمۡ فِئَتُكُمۡ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَوۡ كَثُرَتۡ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
If you [disbelievers] seek the decision [i.e., victory] - the decision [i.e., defeat] has come to you. And if you desist [from hostilities], it is best for you; but if you return [to war], We will return, and never will you be availed by your [large] company at all, even if it should increase; and [that is] because Allāh is with the believers.

Al-Mukhtasar
If you, O polytheists, request that Allah inflict His torment and affliction upon the transgressing wrongdoers, then Allah has inflicted upon you what you requested, for He has brought down on you that which was a punishment for you and a lesson for the heedful. If you refrain from requesting that, then it is better for you. And if you go back to requesting it and killing the believers, we will go back to inflicting torment upon you and giving victory to the believers. Neither your faction nor your supporters will avail you, even if they were much in numbers and equipment while the believers are few, and because Allah is with them in support and aid. Whoever Allah is with, then none can defeat them.
