وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأۡمُرُكُمۡ أَن تَذۡبَحُواْ بَقَرَةٗۖ قَالُوٓاْ أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوٗاۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجَٰهِلِينَ
And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allāh commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allāh from being among the ignorant."

Al-Mukhtasar
From the stories of your ancestors, remember what happened between them and Moses (peace be upon him) when he told them that Allah had commanded them to sacrifice a cow among the cattle. Instead of hastening to comply, they stubbornly asked: Are you trying to make a mockery out of us?! Moses responded: I seek refuge in Allah from being among those who lie about Allah and mock people.
