وَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ كِتَٰبٞ مِّنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ مُصَدِّقٞ لِّمَا مَعَهُمۡ وَكَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ يَسۡتَفۡتِحُونَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم مَّا عَرَفُواْ كَفَرُواْ بِهِۦۚ فَلَعۡنَةُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
And when there came to them a Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] from Allāh confirming that which was with them - although before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved - but [then] when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allāh will be upon the disbelievers.

Al-Mukhtasar
The Quran came to them from Allah, agreeing with what the Torah and the Gospel contain. Before it was revealed, they used to say that they would be helped against the polytheists, who worship others alongside Allah and would have success over them when a prophet was sent since they would have faith in him and follow him. But they disbelieved him when the Quran and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم came to them, according to the description they recognized and the truth they knew. Allah curses those who disbelieve Him and His Prophet.
