يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَيَبۡلُوَنَّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِشَيۡءٖ مِّنَ ٱلصَّيۡدِ تَنَالُهُۥٓ أَيۡدِيكُمۡ وَرِمَاحُكُمۡ لِيَعۡلَمَ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَخَافُهُۥ بِٱلۡغَيۡبِۚ فَمَنِ ٱعۡتَدَىٰ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ
O you who have believed, Allāh will surely test you through something of the game that your hands and spears [can] reach, that Allāh may make evident those who fear Him unseen. And whoever transgresses after that - for him is a painful punishment.

Al-Mukhtasar
O you who believe, Allah will certainly test you by giving you land game when you are in the state of Ihram (ritual sanctity). You could catch the smaller game with your hands and the bigger ones with your spears. Allah will do this to make known and hold accountable those who fear their Creator without seeing Him due to their complete belief in Allah's Knowledge. Therefore, they avoid hunting due to the fear of their Creator, from whom nothing is hidden. Whoever transgresses the limits and hunts in the state of Ihram (ritual sanctity) shall receive a painful torment on the Day of Resurrection for violating Allah's prohibition.
