Surah Al-Mujadila 58:10 المجادلة

إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ لِيَحۡزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَلَيۡسَ بِضَآرِّهِمۡ شَيۡـًٔا إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ
Private conversation is only from Satan that he may grieve those who have believed,1644 but he will not harm them at all except by permission of Allāh. And upon Allāh let the believers rely.
Translator notes (1)
- 1644 The reference may be to the sinful type of conversation, as mentioned in the previous verses, or to the practice of two persons speaking in confidence in the presence of a third, which might lead him to assume that he is the subject of their conversation. Such behavior was prohibited by the Prophet (ﷺ) in narrations of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.

Al-Mukhtasar
Secret discussion containing sin, enmity, and disobedience to the Messenger is but from the Devil's embellishing and his whispering to his allies to bring sorrow to the believers [by the fact] that they are plotted against. The Devil and his embellishments are not harmful to the believers except by Allah's wish and desire. Let the believers rely upon Allah in all their affairs.
