أَلَا لِلَّهِ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلۡخَالِصُۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوۡلِيَآءَ مَا نَعۡبُدُهُمۡ إِلَّا لِيُقَرِّبُونَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ زُلۡفَىٰٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَحۡكُمُ بَيۡنَهُمۡ فِي مَا هُمۡ فِيهِ يَخۡتَلِفُونَۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي مَنۡ هُوَ كَٰذِبٞ كَفَّارٞ
Unquestionably, for Allāh is the pure religion.1339 And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allāh in position." Indeed, Allāh will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allāh does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.

Al-Mukhtasar
Indeed, sincere devotion is due only to Allah, pure of polytheism. And those who have taken guardians besides Allah, such as idols and any false deities which they worship instead of Allah, presenting an excuse for worshipping them by saying that they do not worship these except so that they bring them closer to Allah in status, present their needs to Him and intercede on their behalf with Him; Allah will judge between the monotheistic believers and the polytheistic disbelievers on the Day of Resurrection regarding Allah's Oneness, in which they used to differ. Allah does not inspire with guidance towards the truth those who lie against Him by associating a partner with Him and those who deny Allah's favors.
