لَقَدۡ كَانَ فِي قَصَصِهِمۡ عِبۡرَةٞ لِّأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِۗ مَا كَانَ حَدِيثٗا يُفۡتَرَىٰ وَلَٰكِن تَصۡدِيقَ ٱلَّذِي بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِ وَتَفۡصِيلَ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ وَهُدٗى وَرَحۡمَةٗ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُؤۡمِنُونَ
There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding. Never was it [i.e., the Qur’ān] a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and guidance and mercy for a people who believe.

Al-Mukhtasar
The stories of the Messengers and their people, as in the story of Joseph and his brothers, are lessons that people of sound minds can learn from. The Quran, which contains this, is not made up words and fabrications against Allah. Rather, it affirms the heavenly scriptures sent down from Allah. It is a detailed explanation of everything that needs elaborating from the rulings and legislations, a guide to all good, and a mercy to a people believing in it; they are the ones that can truly benefit from what is in it.
