۞ وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّمَا غَنِمۡتُم مِّن شَيۡءٖ فَأَنَّ لِلَّهِ خُمُسَهُۥ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِي ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينِ وَٱبۡنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ إِن كُنتُمۡ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِنَا يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانِ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡتَقَى ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٌ
And know that anything you obtain of war booty - then indeed, for Allāh is one fifth of it and for the Messenger448 and for [his] near relatives449 and the orphans, the needy, and the [stranded] traveler,450 if you have believed in Allāh and in that which We sent down to Our Servant451 on the day of criterion [i.e., decisive encounter] - the day when the two armies met [at Badr]. And Allāh, over all things, is competent.

Al-Mukhtasar
And know, O believers, that whatever you took from the disbelievers by force in Jihad (striving) for the sake of Allah shall be divided into five-fifths. Four-fifths shall be distributed to Mujahideen (those who fight for the sake of Allah), and the remaining fifth divided into five partitions: a portion for Allah and His Messenger, to be spent on the general expenses of the Muslims; a portion for the relatives of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم from the children of Hashim and the children of Al-Muttalib, a portion for orphans, a portion for the poor and the needy, and a portion for travelers who were stranded. Obey this if you believe in Allah and what We have revealed to our slave, Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, on the day of the Battle of Badr, in which Allah made a distinction between truth and falsehood by giving you victory over your enemies. And Allah, who gave you victory, is able to do everything.
