أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نُهُواْ عَنِ ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا نُهُواْ عَنۡهُ وَيَتَنَٰجَوۡنَ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ وَمَعۡصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِۖ وَإِذَا جَآءُوكَ حَيَّوۡكَ بِمَا لَمۡ يُحَيِّكَ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ وَيَقُولُونَ فِيٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَوۡلَا يُعَذِّبُنَا ٱللَّهُ بِمَا نَقُولُۚ حَسۡبُهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُ يَصۡلَوۡنَهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
Have you not considered those who were forbidden from private conversation [i.e., ridicule and conspiracy] and then return to that which they were forbidden and converse among themselves about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger? And when they come to you, they greet you with that [word] by which Allāh does not greet you1643 and say among themselves, "Why does Allāh not punish us for what we say?" Sufficient for them is Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the destination.

Al-Mukhtasar
Have you not perceived, O Messenger, the Jews who would secretly discuss if they saw a believer? So Allah forbade them from discussing secretly. Then they go back to what Allah forbade them from, and they secretly discuss between themselves with what entails sin, such as backbiting the believers, enmity towards them, and disobedience to the Messenger. And if they come to you, O Messenger, they greet you with a greeting which Allah did not greet you with, saying: As-sammu' alayka (death be upon you),intending [his] demise. And they say in rejection to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم: Would not Allah torment us for what we say? For if he were truthful in what he claims of being a Prophet, Allah surely would have tormented us for what we say about him!Hell is enough punishment for what they said. They will suffer its heat, so how gruesome the destination that they head toward.
