Surah Ali 'Imran 3:152 آل عمران

Allah has fulfilled the victory He promised you over your enemies on the day of Uḥud. You were engaging them in a fierce battle, by Allah's permission, until you cowered and weakened in your resolve to do as the Messenger had commanded you. And you differed about whether to remain at your posts or leave them to gather the spoils of war. You disobeyed the Messenger's command to remain in your positions no matter what happened. You did this after Allah showed you the victory over the enemies you wished for. Among you are those who want the spoils of the worldly life, and they are the ones who left their posts. Also, among you are those who want the reward of the Afterlife, and they were the ones who remained in their positions, obeying the Messenger's command. Then, Allah diverted you from them and gave them authority over you to test you. So, the believer, patient with trials, would be distinguished from the one whose foot slipped and his soul became weak. Allah had indeed pardoned you for what you committed when you went against the command of the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. Allah possesses great preference for the believers when He guides them to faith, pardons their misdeeds, and rewards them for the calamities they suffer.
