ٱسۡتِكۡبَارٗا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَكۡرَ ٱلسَّيِّيِٕۚ وَلَا يَحِيقُ ٱلۡمَكۡرُ ٱلسَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهۡلِهِۦۚ فَهَلۡ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَۚ فَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّهِ تَبۡدِيلٗاۖ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّهِ تَحۡوِيلًا
[Due to] arrogance in the land and plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompass except its own people. Then do they await except the way [i.e., fate] of the former peoples? But you will never find in the way [i.e., established method] of Allāh any change, and you will never find in the way of Allāh1257 any alteration.1258

Al-Mukhtasar
The oaths they took in Allah's name were not taken in good faith and with a sound objective. It was only to be arrogant on Earth and to deceive people. An evil plot only rebounds on those who plotted it. So, are these arrogant plotters waiting for anything other than Allah's established practice, which is their destruction as He destroyed their predecessors like them? You will not find any change to Allah's method of destroying arrogant people such that the destruction evades them, nor is it diverted to others besides them because it is an established divine practice.
