Dhuhr prayer

Dhuhr begins just after solar noon and ends when Asr begins.

Dhuhr is the midday prayer. Its window opens shortly after the sun crosses the meridian, the highest point it reaches that day, which is solar noon and not clock noon. It closes when the Asr window opens. Timetables add a small margin after solar noon so that the printed time is safely past the moment the sun begins to descend. Because it is fixed to the sun and not to twilight, Dhuhr is effectively the same on every calculation method for a given place.

The fard of Dhuhr is four rakat.
