Fajr prayer
Fajr begins at true dawn and ends at sunrise.
Fajr is the first of the five daily prayers. Its window opens at true dawn, the moment the first light spreads along the horizon while the sun is still a set number of degrees below it, and it closes at sunrise, when the upper edge of the sun appears. The depression angle that defines dawn is a calculation convention rather than a direct observation, and it differs between methods, which is why two timetables for the same city can differ by several minutes.
The fard of Fajr is two rakat.
