Isha prayer

Isha begins when the evening twilight has ended and lasts until true dawn.

Isha is the night prayer. Its window opens once twilight has finished, when the sun has descended a set number of degrees below the horizon, commonly seventeen or eighteen depending on the method, and it runs until true dawn, the start of Fajr. Many timetables also print the midpoint between sunset and dawn, a calculated reference point often labelled Islamic midnight. At high latitudes there are summer nights when twilight never ends and no true Isha time exists; timetables then fall back on an approximation rule, and this site uses the twilight angle rule for every city.

The fard of Isha is four rakat.
